HOW I USE FRUIT WITH EVERYONE OF MY CLIENTS TO LOSE BODY FAT

AND WHY IT WORKS EVERY TIME

Natural simple sugars from ripe fruit and unprocessed juices will set your metabolism and FAT BURNING ON FIRE!!  And lets not forget the benefits of fruit in optimising heath, balancing hormones, improving energy and reducing bloating.  Honestly how has fruit got such a bad rap?  

In today’s blog I write a basic explanation of human physiology, my clinically-founded conclusions, along with years of research and experience helping thousands of people lose weight, improve metabolism and optimize health, and yes its about eating SUGAR from fruit and juice.

I chuckle… how is it that healthy, digestible fruit is being referred to as poison and considered in the top ten list of criminal food offenders for weight gain?   Seriously have you ever known someone becoming obese by eating too much fruit?, hm an apple a day makes you obese and diabetic – I don’t think so!

Just to be on the same page, fructose is fruit sugar.  When I refer to fruit sugars I’m referring to simple carbohydrates comprising of glucose and fructose molecules – known as sucrose.    It’s the predominant form of carbohydrate (sugar) found in ripe fruit, beetroots, raw honey, and is also found in honey, flowers, and even root vegetables.

Fructose itself is a naturally occurring substance in nature that has been part of the human diet since the beginning of humanity.  High-fructose corn syrup on the other hand is an entirely different story – it is an unnatural chemically altered food.   It is bad in every aspect.

BIG DIFFERENCE.  The two are not equal.  And fructose is not the criminal we think it is.  When you understand human physiology, and how a healthy body is meant to work, Fructose itself is literally the fruit of life.

SUGARS (fruit) INCREASE METABOLISM which mean they INCREASE FAT BURNING

Glucose is our cells preferred energy source – and increases energy WITHOUT fat gain. 

Glucose/sugar is essential for thyroid hormone conversion.  The more glucose present the faster T4 to T3 conversion.  The more T3, the faster your metabolic rate.   As simple sugars increase thyroid hormone conversion they naturally increase metabolic rate, which increases fat burning.

So let’s be clear.  High sugar consumption (ofcouse combined with a protein and a fat) increases the conversion of T4 (inactive thyroid hormone) to T3 (active thyroid hormone) in the liver, improving metabolic functioning, energy and even having a positive effect on hormonal balance.   

Low sugar diets ultimately slow metabolism and reduce the body’s ability to burn fat.

SUGAR, THE LIVER and ESTROGEN

For the liver to function optimally it requires glucose.  The liver provides our body with 70% of our active thyroid hormone – therefore if we are not providing our body with the right sugars we are not enabling our livers to produce adequate T3 to make fat burning a natural occurrence.

This is why long term low carb diets downregulate thyroid hormone functioning, and eventually result in reduced fat burning and even fat loss plateaus.

This is usually not a problem with the thyroid gland but with the liver, which fails to convert T4 into the more active thyroid hormone T3.   The diagnosis can be made on clinical grounds with the presence of fatigue, sluggishness, dry skin, coarse or falling hair, an elevation in cholesterol, or a low body temperature.”

AND……Without sufficient glucose stores, the liver cannot detoxify excess estrogen or convert cholesterol into progesterone.  So sugar also plays an integral role in reducing excess estrogen. As most women are aware excess estrogen results in fat storage to hips, butts and thighs

 “Having a constant flow of glucose is an important part of supporting the glucuronidation pathway, which needs to be in working order to inactivate “used up” estrogen in the liver and brain. The simple sugar boosts the patients glucuronic acid levels enabling them to clear out their “old” hormones.”

When we don’t supply our body with enough natural simple sugars (ie ripe fruits)  blood sugar runs low, adrenaline is released and then the body releases cortisol to break down our tissues and muscles (catabolic and degenerative) to make glucose and this process leads to elevation of estrogen.

Estrogen dominance creates glucose intolerance.  Estrogen blocks energy production, stimulates the release of destructive free fatty acids, exhausts and reduces the beta cells of the pancreas, and is elevated further by low blood sugar….so one of the best strategies to reduce excess estrogen is to eat your fruit!!   

INSULIN AND FAT STORAGE

You see one of the fabulous ways sugar helps prevent weight gain is that fructose can enter a cell without the assistance of insulin.   It is in the presence of insulin that we are more likely to store fat.

“Fructose inhibits the stimulation of insulin by glucose, so this means that eating sucrose (a disaccharide, consisting of glucose and fructose), in place of starch, will reduce the tendency to store fat. Eating “complex carbohydrates,” rather than sugars, is a reasonable way to promote obesity.”

As fruits have minimal cellulose they also produce less bacterial overgrowth and endotoxins so help keep estrogen lower.  

RICH IN VITAMINS

It doesn’t take a science degree to know that natural fruits and pure juices contain higher levels of vitamins and minerals than starches and grains.   Fruits are also void of the anti-nutrients found in grains and seeds (phytates, trypsin inhibitors)

Fruits and juices are high in salicylates, which are powerfully anti-inflammatory (exceptions apple and grapefruit) – apples contain pectin which can feed bacteria and grapefruit juice can be estrogenic.

SUGAR IS EASY TO DIGEST

When a fruit is fully ripened the disaccharide (double sugar molecule) sucrose is broken down easily into fructose and glucose (single sugar molecules), requiring very little digestive strength, (the same is true for raw honey and well-cooked root vegetables). This makes sugar an especially excellent carbohydrate choice for those with digestive issues, or those who suffer from bloating.   The more complex the carbohydrate, the more digestive strength required. Win win

SUGARS AND FERTILTY

Did you know that without fructose conception is impossible?

Are you aware that a developing embryo THRIVES on fructose?

Fructose is the main sugar involved in reproduction, in the seminal fluid and intrauterine fluid, and in the developing fetus.  After these crucial stages of life are past, glucose becomes the primary molecular energy source, except when the system is under stress.   … The placenta turns glucose from the mother’s blood into fructose, and the fructose in the mother’s blood can pass through into the fetus.”

The male seminal fluid is especially rich in fructose and studies have shown that when spermatozoa cannot properly utilize fructose, it results in infertility or degenerative changes in the developing cells.

Not only is fructose abundant in the male seminal fluid but it is also abundant in the fluid inside the female uterus, where impregnation and conception occurs.

The female source of fructose is also the essential source of energy used by both the spermatozoa and egg upon conception.

Once conception has occurred, it’s fructose that fuels the rapid cell growth and cell division that makes life possible. Without fructose, conception would simply be impossible.
