6 truths you should know about weight loss

What 20 years as a coach, metabolic researcher and athlete has taught me

1. THE HEALTHIER YOU ARE THE EASIER IT IS TO LOSE WEIGHT.    PERIOD.

Sounds simple right?   But all too often I see we get obsessed with fitting into our skinny jeans or standing on stage that we sacrifice this fundamental truth.   

I see too many people too often trying to lose body fat when their metabolism is already slow, they are struggling with health issues (digestive, energy, immune, sleep, hormonal, self esteem,) and their body is stressed.     When your body is stressed dieting adds more stress, and this never results in easy weight loss.

If you sacrifice an already compromised immune system or health by cutting carbs, deleting dairy, avoiding fruit, and starving yourself of calories and nutrients, well this is just going to result in an even more damaged metabolism, chronic thyroid issues, hormonal Imbalance, sleep issues, irritability, digestive issues, bloating, delivering a stressed body Ill health – and well very minimal, if any fat loss.   

2 A STRESSED BODY WILL STRUGGLE TO LOSE WEIGHT.

For a stressed body to lose weight it has to forced and is a torturous, exhausting,  miserable,  slow process.   By eating a pro-Metabolic diet, by reducing stres, by caring for your health and hormones you SUPPORT fat loss, not FORCE fat loss.   

3 WEIGHT LOSS IS EFFORTLESS WHEN METABOLISM IS FAST.

It’s simple, the more robust you’re metabolism the easier it is to burn fat.   Someone with a fast metabolism can consume thousands of calories a day without putting on weight – so when it comes time to lose body fat it is very easy.  By if your metabolism is slow and you consume very little calories, it is nearly impossible to create a deficit in order to burn body fat.

Shedding fat when your body is healthy and metabolically sound body is a beautiful and simple process.    Trying to lose fat when your metabolism is slow and your body is stressed can be a devastating experience.

Consistency is King.   Those i see who achieve weight loss and health success, consistently get enough sleep, consistently eat well, consistently think positive thoughts – day in and day out.    

5 WHAT YOU EAT (or don’t eat) IS THE CORNERSTONE OF YOUR HEALTH AND METABOLISM.   

We need to stop obsessing over how our diet effects our weight and start obsessing about how our diet is impacting our health.   Focus on health and weight will follow.   Those who diet successfully eat real food, pro-Metabolic food, healing and nourishing food, food that supplies their bodies with energy and nutrients – food that improves their health.   Food is medicine.   And if health determines weight loss, than the right food determines health.   

6 NUTRITION AND LIFESTYLE DETERMINE METABOLIC RATE.   

So if your metabolic rate determines how easy or hard it will be to lose weight and be healthy, then your nutrition and lifestyle are essential to improving or healing your metabolism.

HOW DO YOU ACHIEVE THIS:

B. Minimise stress (lack of sleep, emotional stress, overtraining, lack of sunlight etc)

E. Reduce environmental toxins

F. Resist the temptation to eat foods that are processed, have additives or polyunsaturated fatty acids.   

Because the healthier you are the easier it is to lose body fat – sadly too many all too often overlook this fundamental and are willing to sacrifice their health at the cost of losing weight.   This strategy stresses your body and ultimately backfires
